Wondering why our departure lounge seating is being moved around? Here’s why!
Passenger Comfort Takes Flight: Isle of Man Airport’s Departure Lounge Upgrades!
Exciting changes are coming to Isle of Man Airport’s departure lounge! In partnership with Caterleisure, we’re making improvements to enhance passenger comfort and convenience.
What’s Happening?
This multi-phase upgrade will take place throughout the year, with the first three phases expected to begin next week (week commencing March 10) and be completed by mid-April 2025.
What’s Changing?
✅ Phase 1: Upgraded seating in the front zone, including high-top work bars with charging points, table seating, and designated areas for passengers with reduced mobility. A total of 131 seats will be available across the Costa and new bar zones.
✅ Phase 2: Transforming the current bar area into an expanded Costa Coffee zone with additional coffee machines, tills, and panini stations for faster service.
✅ Phase 3: The existing Costa Coffee space will become a brand-new bar area, featuring locally sourced beverages and snacks.
Will there be disruptions?
We’re working hard to keep things running smoothly! A Costa and bar will remain open throughout, so you can still grab a coffee or a drink before your flight.
What should passengers do?
Since space will be limited during the works, we encourage passengers to enter the departure lounge no more than two hours before their flight. Stay updated by checking our website and social media!
Why are we making these changes?
Interim Airport Director Geoff Pugh said:
"We are committed to providing a modern, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our passengers. This upgrade is the first step in a series of enhancements aimed at improving the overall airport experience. We appreciate our customers’ patience and cooperation during this period of transformation."
Infrastructure Minister Dr. Michelle Haywood MHK added:
"I appreciate the Airport Board's efforts in supporting and developing these changes, and I’d also like to thank Caterleisure for their role in these improvements. I look forward to seeing the enhanced departure lounge."
Inclusivity Matters
The new design will feature wider aisles, clearly marked pathways, and dedicated seating areas for passengers with disabilities—a direct response to passenger feedback.
What’s Next?
Following these initial upgrades, later this year, additional phases will include:
Phase 4: New carpets and redecorating the rear waiting zone (near Gates 4 & 5).
Phase 5: Installing 185 new seats in the rear waiting zone & 92 seats in the downstairs holding lounge.
